Beyond Just the Boiler

Central Heating System Upgrade London

A new boiler on its own doesn't always fix a heating system that runs unevenly, wastes energy, or leaves some rooms cold — a lot of that comes down to what's around the boiler: the controls, the radiator valves, the pipework and, in some cases, the radiators themselves.

Central Heating System Upgrade London

This service covers upgrading those elements alongside or independently of a boiler replacement: smart thermostats and zone controls, thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) room by room, a power flush to clear years of sludge and debris from an old system, and pipework changes where the layout is genuinely restricting performance.

The free survey identifies which of these will actually make a difference in your property rather than selling every option on the list — a smart thermostat is a poor answer to a system that badly needs a power flush, and vice versa.

Upgrades are quoted individually after the free survey — a power flush, TRVs and smart controls are priced separately so you can choose what to include rather than paying for a fixed bundle.

How it works

A method, not a guess

01

Free Survey

We assess your current controls, radiator valves, pipework and — where relevant — take a water sample to check for sludge and corrosion.

02

Fixed Quote

A written quote for the specific upgrades that will help your system, not a blanket package.

03

Controls, valves, power flushing or pipework changes are carried out to the agreed scope, alongside a boiler installation if you're having one.

04

Handover & Settings

We set up your new controls and zones with you and explain how to get the most out of them before we leave.

Questions

Central Heating System Upgrade FAQs for London homeowners

Do I need a power flush with my new boiler?

Not automatically — it depends on the age and condition of your existing system. The free survey can include a water sample check; if sludge or corrosion is present, a power flush protects the new boiler's warranty and improves efficiency.

Are smart thermostats worth it?

They can meaningfully improve day-to-day control and scheduling, especially with zoning in a larger property, but they don't fix an underlying flow or sludge problem. We'll tell you honestly whether that's the priority in your system.

Can this be done without replacing my boiler?

Yes — controls, TRVs and power flushing can all be carried out as standalone upgrades to an existing boiler, provided the boiler itself is in reasonable working order.

What are TRVs and why would I want them room by room?

Thermostatic radiator valves let you set a different target temperature per room instead of one setting for the whole house, which can reduce wasted heating in rooms you use less — bedrooms during the day, for example.

How do I know if my system needs a power flush?

Common signs include radiators that are cold at the bottom but hot at the top, some radiators barely heating up at all, or a boiler that's noisy or short-cycling. The free survey can confirm with a water sample check rather than guessing from symptoms alone.
